Actress and fashion designer Grace Sey has shared details of her kidnapping ordeal on her way back from a film shoot in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, revealing how her captors brutally assaulted her based on assumptions about cosmetic surgery.
In an emotional interview with PUNCH Newspapers, Sey disclosed that her abductors subjected her to severe physical abuse because they believed her physique indicated she had undergone Brazilian Butt Lift surgery.
“They beat me with the flat side of a cutlass, especially on my buttocks. They mocked me, saying my body looked too perfect and assumed I must have undergone cosmetic surgery,” Sey recounted, her voice trembling. “They said if I could afford a BBL, I must have money to pay the ransom demanded.”
The traumatized actress explained that her pleas of innocence fell on deaf ears. “I told them I had never done any surgery and didn’t even know if a BBL could burst, as they threatened to do. They also mocked me for being an actress, assuming I was rich.”
Sey described the physical trauma as ongoing, stating, “The beating was extremely painful; I still feel it to this day.”
