Ismail Omipidan, a public affairs analyst, said the All Progressives Congress has significantly improved its campaign strategy for the Osun governorship election, arguing that lessons learned from the party’s previous mistakes have strengthened its current political preparations considerably statewide.
According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Trust TV on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, while discussing preparations for the Osun governorship election, Omipidan reflected on how the APC had adjusted its campaign approach after previous experiences.
Omipidan suggested the ruling party’s current campaign efforts demonstrate greater organization than before, maintaining that party members have become more deliberate in their activities, while comparing the present atmosphere with what he personally observed during the 2022 governorship contest.
During the interview, he stated, “if you see the way the APC is going about this election, in fact, I was discussing with somebody yesterday that the members of the party appear to have learned from some of the errors and mistakes they committed four years ago because of the level of energy they are putting into this campaign. I must confess, as an insider, that four years ago I did not see it on our part, and so, for me, that is probably what is scaring the incumbent governor.”
He maintained that stronger coordination among party members has become more noticeable throughout the campaign period, adding that the level of commitment being displayed reflects a different approach from previous election cycles, based on his personal political observations alone.
Omipidan further argued that campaign organization can influence public perception during elections, although he acknowledged that the eventual outcome would remain dependent on voters, who alone possess the constitutional authority to determine winners through the democratic electoral process.
