The Number Of Allegations Involving Women Around David Umahi Is Both Implausible And Staggering—Odinkalu

‎In a recent statement via his official X account on Monday July 13, 2026, human rights lawyer and former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, has reacted to reports and allegations surrounding the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.

‎”The number of allegations involving women, nakedness, towels, violence, and death around @realdaveumahi is both implausible and staggering. Is there a haunting smell of ritual morbidity around him?” he wrote.

‎In his post, Odinkalu expressed concern over what he described as a growing number of allegations involving women, violence, deaths, and other disturbing incidents linked to the minister’s name, he suggested that the volume of such claims has become difficult to ignore and deserves public attention.

‎He questioned why some of the allegations have not generated wider public scrutiny, according to him, the seriousness of the claims should ordinarily attract greater interest from both the public and relevant authorities.

‎Odinkalu referenced comparisons being made on social media between the treatment of political figures, he suggested that if similar allegations had been associated with opposition leaders, the public reaction might have been much stronger.

‎The legal scholar argued that public office holders should be subject to the same level of accountability regardless of their political affiliation, he indicated that allegations involving violence, suspicious deaths, or misconduct should be properly investigated rather than dismissed because of the status of those involved.

‎He further implied that the recurring nature of the reports has raised questions that require credible answers, he suggested that transparency is necessary to prevent speculation and maintain public confidence in government institutions…Sēe Morē
