Oseloka Obaze, a former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, has recalled that business tycoon Aliko Dangote was among the notable figures present at the 2014 ceremony marking the conclusion of Peter Obi’s time as governor of Anambra State.
Obaze disclosed this in a post on his official X account on September 19, 2026, as debate resurfaced over the financial state of Anambra State at the time Obi left office.
His remarks came after the current Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, commented on the state’s financial obligations and claims about external debt said to have been left by the previous administration.
Obaze stated that Obi used the 2014 end-of-tenure event to give an account of his eight years in office in the presence of distinguished guests, Dangote among them.
The former SSG clarified that the occasion allowed Obi to publicly discuss the funds and investments his administration had left for the state.
Obaze further voiced displeasure that some individuals who did not attend the event were now making assertions about what happened during the former governor’s handover.
He noted on X that the ceremony was broadcast nationwide and that it was there Obi publicly revealed that his administration was leaving behind cash and investment instruments valued at roughly N75 billion in the state treasury.
Obaze’s remarks have since sparked reactions from social media users, with many sharing their views on the renewed debate about Obi’s financial record as governor of Anambra State.
The controversy arises as political discussions ahead of the 2027 elections keep drawing attention to the records and achievements of past and present public office holders.
