According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday, July 16, 2026, popular social commentator Isaac Fayose has reaffirmed his support for the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, stating that his political preference remains unchanged despite maintaining cordial relationships with some supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose said his personal associations should not be interpreted as a change in his political allegiance, insisting that friendships and political affiliations are separate matters.
He maintained that interacting with individuals who hold different political views does not alter his commitment to the candidate he supports.
Fayose made the clarification in a post published on his official Facebook page on Thursday, following a meeting with the son of President Bola Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu, businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, and several other prominent personalities on Wednesday night.
His explanation came after the meeting generated discussions on social media, with some users questioning whether his association with supporters of the President signified a shift in his political position.
According to Fayose, the gathering was a social engagement and should not be viewed through a political lens.
He explained that maintaining friendships with individuals across different political parties is a normal aspect of personal relationships and does not require him to abandon his own convictions.
He stressed that people can disagree politically while still interacting respectfully and maintaining cordial personal relationships without compromising their beliefs.
The social commentator emphasized that his friendship with supporters of President Tinubu has no bearing on his political choice.
He stated that he continues to support Peter Obi and remains fully committed to the Obidient movement.
Fayose reiterated that his political preference has not changed despite the speculation that followed photographs and reports of his meeting with Seyi Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest and other public figures.
He further disclosed that at the end of the meeting, Seyi Tinubu accompanied him to his vehicle before they prayed together.
Fayose explained that the prayer included requests for God’s guidance and protection for President Bola Tinubu as well as prayers for themselves.
He indicated that praying for the President did not conflict with his personal political beliefs, maintaining that offering prayers for national leaders is sepa rate from partisan political support.
