Seyi: I Know That Wike Isn’t Somebody Who Suffers Fools; Maybe He Will Have His Press Conference-Ojo

Political analyst Jide Ojo has weighed in on the recent fallout between Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over internal disagreements within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ojo’s comments followed a press conference by Makinde, during which the governor alleged that Wike entered into a deal to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 at the expense of the PDP.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Ojo said that if Makinde’s claims are accurate, then Wike acted wrongly. He explained that in politics, especially within party structures, decisions of such magnitude require broad consultation and consensus among key stakeholders. According to him, making secret arrangements without the knowledge of other party leaders can breed distrust and deepen internal crises.

Ojo added that Wike’s alleged statement about “holding the PDP down” to support another party, if proven true, would amount to a serious breach of party loyalty.

However, the political analyst also noted Wike’s well-known personality, describing him as someone who does not tolerate what he considers foolishness and who often responds forcefully to criticism. He suggested that Wike may soon react publicly or even convene a press conference to present his own version of events.

In Ojo’s words, “I know that Wike is not somebody who suffers fools. Maybe by tomorrow, Wike will have his right of reply or even call his own press conference, which we have known him for.”

Ojo concluded that, for now, Makinde’s comments have helped to shed more light on the underlying causes of the lingering crisis within the PDP.
