Social media users have taken to their official X account on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 to react to the statement that Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Nyesom Wike made about people marrying many wives while earning little income.
He made the statement after he came across some children begging at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT in Abuja.
In the post that he made on his page, he said there is no reason why a man who cannot take care of one wife and two children properly should marry three wives and produce fifteen children.
He said poverty is one the major reasons why terrorism has remained in the North. He said when children are abandoned, they become angry and dangerous.
Lere Olayinka stated that the North must solve the issue of children roaming about the streets.
According to Lere Olayinka on his official X account;
“I am sure some people will still come here to blame government. But what can the government do in the case of a gateman earning N60k per month but has four wives and 17 children?”.
