Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has challenged ADC vice presidential candidate and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi to publicly disclose the content of an alleged private conversation between them.
Bwala made the challenge in a post on social media while reacting to a Channels TV interview in which Amaechi reportedly referred to a telephone conversation he had with Bwala after the latter left the camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
According to Bwala, Amaechi had claimed that during the alleged phone conversation, he told the former governor something that Amaechi subsequently described as confidential.
Reacting to the claim, Bwala gave Amaechi permission to disclose the alleged conversation publicly.
Addressing Amaechi directly, Bwala wrote: “My attention was drawn to an interview wherein you said when I left Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, you called me and I told you something which you refused to tell Seun Okin because you claimed it was confidential. I Daniel Bwala hereby give you the permission to please tell the whole world.”
Bwala further accused Amaechi of avoiding questions concerning the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during the interview and instead bringing up the alleged conversation between them.
“You were asked questions to reply our capacity minister @GovWike and you deflected by calling Bwala and lying about what you claimed I said,” he alleged.
The presidential aide did not elaborate on what he believed Amaechi had allegedly misrepresented about their conversation but challenged the former governor to reveal the details.
Bwala subsequently invoked Wike’s political influence in Rivers State, declaring his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Let me re-echo the words of the indefatigable Nyesom Wike that ‘Rivers is for Asiwaju’ and I add, you are a paper weight compared to Wike,” Bwala stated.
The exchange has added to the growing war of words between prominent political figures as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi, who is the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, has in recent weeks been critical of the Tinubu administration, while Bwala has remained one of the Presidency’s vocal defenders.
