Peter Obi Left PDP In 2023 Over Zoning; He Can’t Return In 2027 Seeking More Than One Term-Udenta

According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of SYMFONI TV on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, former National Secretary of the defunct Alliance for Democracy, Professor Udenta Udenta, stated that the issue of power rotation remains central to Nigeria’s political stability ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking during a political discussion programme, Udenta defended the principle of zoning and argued that political leaders must remain consistent with the positions they previously supported. He referred specifically to the political decisions made during the 2023 presidential election.

According to him, “In 2023, Peter Obi left the PDP because it did not zone the presidency to the South; he cannot return in 2027 and say he is going to do more than one term.”

Udenta explained that the demand for zoning was one of the major political arguments that shaped the 2023 election season. He maintained that any leader who benefited from that position should also respect the understanding behind it.

He added that power rotation is not merely a party arrangement but a broader political convention aimed at promoting fairness, inclusion, and national balance among Nigeria’s regions.
