Isaac Balami, the former National Deputy Campaign Manager for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, said Peter Obi had not contacted him since he resigned, adding that he also made no attempt to reach the former Labour Party presidential candidate afterward.
According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, while responding to questions about his relationship with Peter Obi after leaving the Obi-Datti campaign, Balami explained why neither of them reconnected afterward.
Balami said he voluntarily resigned from the Obi-Datti campaign and maintained that his departure was his personal decision, stressing that he was not removed from his position and believed Peter Obi understood the finality of his resignation completely.
During the interview, he stated, “Peter Obi, since I resigned and left, has never reached out to me. I was angry when I left, so why should I reach out to him? I left. I wasn’t fired. I left. As far as I’m concerned, he knows that when I left, I left.”
Balami maintained that his decision not to contact Obi after resigning was influenced by how he felt at the time, explaining that he was angry when he left and therefore saw no reason to reopen communication afterward personally.
The interviewer asked whether he had made any effort to contact Obi despite saying Obi never reached out to him, but Balami replied that because he chose to leave on his own, he saw no need to initiate contact.
