According to a report by Al Jazeera, on October 2, 2025, a coalition of Palestinian human rights organizations has strongly condemned the United States’ 20-point plan tied to a Gaza ceasefire, describing it as an “ultimatum” that conditions halting Israel’s assault on terms they say “entrench and normalize” the occupation.
In a statement, the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council (PHROC) called the Trump administration’s plan “a grave violation of international law and an outright assault on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.”
PHROC expressed concern that the plan fails to address what it views as the root problems.
“While PHROC welcomes all genuine efforts to end the genocide in Gaza, the US plan does not aim to end Israel’s settler colonial apartheid regime and unlawful occupation but rather to entrench and normalize it,” the statement said.
The group further accused Washington of “rewarding Israel’s systematic crimes of apartheid, persecution, and genocide.”
PHROC also condemned the silence surrounding the situation of Palestinian detainees, highlighting ongoing human rights concerns.
PHROC called on states worldwide to reject the US plan, labeling it “a manifest breach” of Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
It insisted that any future settlement must include the dismantling of Israel’s occupation and apartheid system, rather than merely pausing violence.
The statement reflects growing frustration among Palestinian rights advocates who see the US peace efforts as disproportionately favoring Israeli interests and sidestepping key justice issues.
PHROC’s denunciation underscores the complex politics around the Gaza conflict and the challenges in reaching an agreement satisfactory to all parties involved.
