According to a report by The Sun on Monday, May 4, 2026, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has attributed the declining strength of opposition parties in Nigeria to the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress, stating that the party’s record in governance has limited the ability of its rivals to gain political relevance.
He made this known during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he explained that the ruling party had continued to exceed the expectations of its critics, leaving opposition groups with fewer opportunities to effectively challenge its achievements.
Sule stated that the performance of the All Progressives Congress in delivering governance had become a major factor contributing to the struggles faced by opposition parties, particularly as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
He maintained that many opposition groups were finding it difficult to maintain political relevance because the ruling party’s achievements had strengthened its position across different parts of the country.
The governor also declared his strong backing for President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence in the president’s economic policies and reforms, which he described as impactful.
Sule further explained that although the reforms introduced by the president were challenging, they had started to produce positive outcomes, especially in Nasarawa State, while also influencing the broader direction of Nigeria’s economy.
