Human rights activist Precious Oruche delivered a defiant message during a protest in Abuja demanding the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu, dismissing threats from security agencies.
In a bold interview with News Central TV at the protest venue, Oruche declared her unwavering commitment to the cause despite potential consequences from security forces.
“I am saying, free Nnamdi Kanu, let them bring on the teargas, let them bring on the bullets, ‘DSS na water,'” Oruche stated, using a Nigerian pidgin expression that roughly translates to the Department of State Services being ineffective or powerless against their resolve.
The activist’s fearless stance highlights the intensity of emotions surrounding Kanu’s continued detention and the determination of his supporters to secure his freedom regardless of potential crackdowns by security agencies.
Kanu, who has been in DSS custody since his controversial repatriation from Kenya in June 2021, leads the separatist IPOB movement advocating for an independent Biafran state. His detention has become a rallying point for activists and supporters who view his arrest and ongoing trial as politically motivated.
