Nigerian actress Carol King has shared her perspective on premarital sex and evolving relationship values, stating that giving sex freely in a relationship does not necessarily increase a woman’s worth in the eyes of a man.
In an interview on BEHIND THE FAME, Carol King explained that while her life is now guided by biblical principles, she acknowledges that generational shifts have changed how people approach relationships. She noted that the societal context during the time the Bible was written is vastly different from today’s realities, especially for Gen Z and future generations.
King emphasized that even outside of religious teachings, self-worth and intentionality remain crucial. She argued that offering sex without commitment may not lead to deeper respect or value in a relationship, using a metaphor to illustrate her point.
Her words,
“For me, everything that I do now is word-based, but at the same time, there are tweaks. Because, you see, the generation of the people who lived when the Bible was written is not the same. So much revolution from generation to generation. We can’t apply the same kind of rules to the Gen Z now, and the Gen Z are going to have their own children. But I will say that, naturally, before even bringing the Bible into it: if you don’t pay for a cow that is giving you milk free—as in, if you’re giving sex free to a guy—it doesn’t make you more valuable to him.
