Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), has stated that he and his son were not given a fair trial during the case in which he was accused of stealing 2.1 billion naira.
In a video shared by TV Platinum, Maina said that while he was in Kuje prison, someone put cyanide poison in his drink to kill him. He said this was done after he made effort to inform the American embassy about his case. He said the incident is known and documented, and he has a toxicologist report to support his claim.
In Maina’s words: “They did it to make me look bad, they used the media against me. I was in Kuje prison. I am also an American citizen and I had right to let the American embassy know of my situation. I was told that if I ever informed American embassy or my lawyers should write, that I was going to be killed (sic). And true to that, cyanide was introduced into my drink in Kuje. It is an open secret and it is documented and I have the toxicologist report. They put it in my drink for me to die”
