In an interview with the Honest Bunch Podcast by Glitch Africa Studios, Anunobi said when her son was about one year old he fell sick. She said she took him to the hospital to check his genotype, and the doctors told her that her son had the SS genotype.
Anunobi said when her son was 4 years old her ex-husband, Charles Ekwu, packed his belongings and left the house, saying he could not handle raising a child that had SS genotype. She added that Ekwu abandoned both her and their son, and after two years she asked her lawyer to file for divorce.
