According to a video shared by Symfoni Tv, on Sunday May 3, 2026, former Kano State Governor and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has stated that he and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi have aligned politically after discussions that led them to decide to associate with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Kwankwaso explained during an appearance on Symfoni TV that both him and Obi attended consultations with the leadership of the party to review its ideology, vision, and political direction. According to him, the discussions revealed strong similarities in values and priorities between both sides.
He noted that the shared beliefs included a focus on improving education, empowering young people and women, strengthening national security, and promoting unity and peace across Nigeria. He suggested that these common goals made the political alignment more natural.
Kwankwaso further revealed that the NDC was preparing to submit its party register on the 6th, adding that this development influenced their decision to formally align with the party. He stressed that the agreement came after careful dialogue and mutual understanding among the involved political figures.
In his remarks, Kwankwaso also expressed appreciation to former Bayelsa State Governor and NDC leader Seriake Dickson for hosting the delegation. He praised Dickson for what he described as transparency, sincerity, and integrity throughout the engagement.
He added that Dickson’s reputation as a respected political figure in Nigeria played a key role in building confidence during the discussions. According to him, the meeting helped both the Kwankwaso and Obi political groups feel assured about the direction they were taking with the NDC.
