According to an Iran International English report of Thursday night of 26 of February 2026, Iranian armed forces have issued strong warnings against the United States (US), describing Washington’s military presence in the region as an act of intimidation, and reiterating Tehran’s readiness to respond to any confrontation.
Speaking to local media, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesman for Iran’s armed forces, said that US deployments in the Middle East were not aimed at ensuring security but were instead part of a broader campaign of pressure against Iran and its allies.
“The presence of the United States military in the region is part of psychological warfare and bullying,” he said.
Shekarchi argued that American officials underestimated Iran’s military capabilities, warning that such miscalculations could lead to serious consequences. “If Washington understood the real capabilities of Iran’s armed forces, it would never speak of war,” he said.
The comments come amid renewed tensions between Tehran and Washington, fueled by recent statements from US officials and ongoing military activity across the region. Iran has repeatedly accused the US of destabilizing the Middle East through its bases, naval deployments and alliances, while the US maintains that its forces are deployed to protect its interests and those of its partners.
Shekarchi said that Iran’s military remained on high alert, and was closely monitoring developments. “In the event of any conflict, American soldiers and their equipment would be destroyed, and US resources and interests in the region would come under fire from Iran’s armed forces,” he added.
He also dismissed recent remarks by US President, Donald Trump, characterizing them as exaggerated threats that did not reflect realities on the ground. According to Shekarchi, Iran’s armed forces are tracking what he described as enemy movements, and are prepared to respond decisively if necessary.
Iranian officials have frequently stressed that the country does not seek war but will defend itself against any aggression.
