The news regarding the brutal attack in a remote village in Benue State which led to inhumane treatment meted out to a 45-year-old mother of four identified as Martina Atom generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.
In a twist of events, residents of Mbagwen Udei came under intense attack as armed bandits stormed the community, destroyed several properties while scores were left injured. The incident, sparked massive public attention as many condemned the viciousness displayed by the bandits.
Narrating her horrific ordeal, Martina Atom in a recent statement which was made available to the general public by VANGUARD on Friday March 7th, 2026 disclosed how she lost her hand during a confrontation with one of the armed assailants.
According to her statements, she disclosed that the bandit, who met her at the farm, attempted to annihilate her, but in the process of defending herself, she sustained a machete cut on her left hand.
