In a video shared on Facebook on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Niger Delta activist and Kalabari chieftain, Asari Dokubo spoke about his heritage and identity.
Dokubo said that he has Igbo DNA and that Igbo blood is flowing in his veins. He stated that the traditional stool he just vacated as Edi’Abali was founded by an Igbo man in 1782.
Dokubo also said he has a mix of Ijaw and Igbo roots. He said 60 percent of his blood is Ijaw and the remaining 40 percent is Igbo. He added that he has always associated with Igbo people.
