Hamas Drops Bold Statement: We Won The War’ As Prisoner Release & Cessation Of War Mark A Great Day

According to a report by Al Jazeera, on October 14, 2025, Hamas’s director of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office hailed the ongoing prisoner exchange as a significant milestone for Palestinians amid a broader ceasefire agreement.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, the director said, “The release of prisoners and the cessation of war in Gaza marks a great day.”

The exchange involves releasing a number of Palestinians who have been held in Israeli prisons for decades.

The director highlighted, “A number of prisoners who have been held in occupation prisons for decades will be released.”

He also confirmed that 154 of the released Palestinian prisoners would be deported.

Addressing concerns over the negotiation process, Hamas accused Israel of attempting to evade obligations in the agreements.

“The [Israeli] occupation is trying to evade its obligations in every agreement,” he said. However, he added that “the [Palestinian] resistance insisted on confirming the names of the prisoners to be released.”

Efforts were made by Hamas to refine and improve the prisoner lists, particularly focusing on those detained from Gaza, said the director: “We have made improvements to the lists of prisoners, especially those detained from Gaza.”

The prisoner exchange is part of a larger ceasefire deal that seeks to reduce hostilities after a prolonged and deadly conflict in Gaza.

Earlier reports indicated nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners were released in return for 20 living Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Videos from Gaza showed welcoming crowds receiving the returned detainees, many of whom suffered harsh conditions during their imprisonment.

The exchange marks a critical humanitarian milestone while the region continues to seek a path toward peace and stability. See, More, Here>>>>
