Lauretta Onochie, a prominent member of former president Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet and one of the strong voices within the ADC coalition recently reacted after several political heavyweights from the Southeast region joined the former governor of Anambra State and erstwhile Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the ADC. According to the statements which were shared on her official X handle, she pointed out that the sun has risen from the east.
The news regarding the official defection of the former governor of Anambra State and erstwhile Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.
However, many were left stunned after several political heavyweights, especially from the Southeast region joined the former governor on his new political journey, a move which many believed was a masterstroke in the race for the presidency in 2027.
Reacting, Lauretta Onochie, a prominent member of former president Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet in a recent statement which was shared on her official X handle, commended the political realignment.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Abia North senatorial district lawmaker, Senator Victor Umeh and Senator Tony Nwoye were few political heavyweights from the southeast region that joined the former Anambra governor, a move which Lauretta Onochie believed was calculated.
According to her statements, she pointed out that the sun has finally risen from the east. She urged those unhappy with the current administration to tow the path of these men as according to her, their bravery was encouraging.
