During one of the gatherings, a prominent figure within the movement, Abdullahi Yashi, addressed supporters and urged them to remain resolute. He declared, “every Muslim must take a side in this war. You are either with the righteous or with the oppressors,” Yashi, emphasising that neutrality in the face of what he described as injustice was not an option. His remarks drew loud reactions from the crowd, many of whom waved flags and banners while chanting in agreement.
Security agencies maintained a strong presence in areas where the protests occurred, monitoring activities to ensure that the demonstrations did not spiral into violence. In Kano, police authorities confirmed that officers were deployed to supervise the procession and safeguard both participants and residents. Officials reiterated that while citizens have the right to assemble and express their views, such activities must remain within the bounds of the law.
The protests come amid rising global tension following reports of retaliatory missile launches by Iran targeting US-linked facilities in parts of the Gulf region. The escalating confrontation has triggered international concern, with governments closely observing developments and issuing advisories to their citizens in various countries, including Nigeria.
