“Each Time He Is Taken To Court The DSS Makes #500 Million Just To Take Him To Court” -Sowore

According to a report video posted by Symfoni TV, on Tuesday October 14, 2025, Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has leveled serious accusations of corruption against the Department of State Services (DSS) regarding the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Sowore claimed that the government’s continued prosecution of Kanu is financially motivated, alleging that the DSS benefits immensely from every court appearance by the IPOB leader.

“We also want to stop the corruption that is behind Nandi Kanu trial,” Sowore declared. “Because each time is taken to court, the DSS makes 500 million naira just to take him to court. Just to take him to court and seek an adjunment to come next time.”

Sowore, who has been mobilizing a major protest to demand Kanu’s release, asserted that his efforts are aimed at helping the government by simplifying the legal system and eliminating judicial corruption.

“What we are doing for those who are hearing us, we actually helping the Nigerian government. We want to help them decongest the courts,” he stated.

The activist drew on his own experience with the security agency, suggesting that the alleged tactic of prolonged, costly trials is a familiar strategy used against political dissidents.

He added, “I am not new to this because they have done it to me before.” See, More, Here>>>>
