According to a report by Daily Post, on Tuesday January 6, 2026, the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, has revealed plans by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to assist Nigeria in tackling the violence against Christians.
Speaking on the television programme Prime Time on Arise TV, Freeman said Netanyahu wants to help through intelligence sharing.
This will allow Nigerian authorities to better protect vulnerable communities and respond to attacks.
Freeman explained that Israel’s support will be guided by the Nigerian government.
The aim is to work together on areas where assistance is most needed.
He added that details of intelligence cooperation will remain confidential to ensure effectiveness.
The ambassador stated that Netanyahu’s concern is not limited to Nigeria.
The Israeli Prime Minister has expressed support for Christians worldwide.
He highlighted that Israel is the only Middle Eastern country where the Christian population is growing.
Freeman noted that Israel is prepared to partner with Nigeria to improve security, but all actions will follow the lead of Nigerian authorities.
Freeman said such cooperation would strengthen Nigeria’s ability to protect its citizens.
The ambassador also pointed out that behind-the-scenes discussions will continue between the two countries.
“We will be led by the Nigerian government as to where we can work and partner to help tackle insecurity as a whole within the country.
Any communication behind the scenes will obviously remain behind the scenes, but as I said, Prime Minister Netanyahu has made his position clear, and so we will do anything we can do in those areas,” he said.
