Chidi Odinkalu Reacts to Kenyan President Comment on Nigeria and Tinubu’s Communication Style

Legal scholar and human rights advocate Chidi Odinkalu has responded to recent remarks by William Ruto concerning Nigeria and President Bola Tinubu.

The reaction followed a widely circulated exchange in which Ruto was quoted as joking that Nigerians speak English in a way that can be so complex it might require translation to fully grasp. He further interpreted Ruto’s statement as humorously suggesting that the Kenyan leader sometimes finds it difficult to fully understand Tinubu’s remarks. Odinkalu added that if interpretation were needed, Nigerians themselves would be better positioned to clarify such statements than external audiences.

His response has since generated attention online, contributing to ongoing discussions about the exchange between the two leaders. Social media users have continued to debate the intent behind Ruto’s comment, with opinions ranging from harmless political humour to subtle diplomatic messaging.

Ruto’s initial remark, which focused on differences in communication style, quickly gained traction across platforms and prompted reactions from various public figures. Odinkalu’s statement is among several that have fueled the broader conversation.

Although widely discussed, the exchange remains largely informal, with interpretations varying among audiences in Nigeria, Kenya, and beyond….See More
