Bayo Onanuga, Senior Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has rejected claims suggesting that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is linked to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made this known in a post that quickly gained traction online, which he shared via his official X account on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. In the post, Onanuga also made pointed remarks regarding Peter Obi’s recent political decisions.
His response followed comments by former Kogi West senator and ADC chieftain, Dino Melaye, who had described the NDC as an extension of the APC. Melaye made the claim after Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, aligned himself with the NDC.
In his earlier remarks, Melaye criticized the former Anambra State governor for leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), arguing that the NDC was essentially another arm of the ruling party.
