Samaila Kaigama, the President of the Borno South Youth Alliance, alleged that bandits and terrorists once lined up about 15 to 25 women and children during a hostage situation, claiming they threatened to kill them on video to pressure authorities into accelerating negotiations over ransom payments.
According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Channels Television on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, while discussing insecurity in Borno State, Kaigama recounted alleged interactions with terrorists during mediation efforts and described moments he said deeply disturbed him throughout negotiations.
Kaigama explained that the hostage situation reached a frightening stage when those holding the captives allegedly insisted that government officials were delaying cooperation, prompting them to consider carrying out killings they believed would increase pressure on authorities to respond more quickly.
During the interview, he stated, “at a specific time, they lined up about 15 to 25 women and children and video-called me. They were about to slaughter them because the government was not cooperating fast enough. They needed the money to come in quickly. They told me, ‘you are too lenient, and we understand your approach. Allow us to kill 15 to 25 people on video.’”
He said he rejected the proposal outright because he did not support bloodshed, maintaining that his role throughout the mediation process was focused solely on preserving lives and seeking the safe release of those held without encouraging violence or accepting financial benefits.
