In an interview on The Legacy Series, Bode George, a retired Commodore in the Nigerian Navy, stated that he witnessed advanced surveillance technology during his training in the United States

George said that after joining the Nigerian Navy, he attended a training program at a Naval War College in the USA in 1986. He said he and other members of his class were taken to a naval station in Maine where he was shown live satellite view of Tinubu Square in Lagos Island. He said he could clearly see people moving around and running after yellow buses in the location
