Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission has raised serious concerns over the pricing of the recently published autobiography of former military head of state, Major General Yakubu Gowon.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Friday May 22nd, 2026 he pointed out that the prices for both the paperback and the hardback ensured that the people cannot access the book.
General Yakubu Gowon, it can be recalled, in the now viral autobiography, explained the events that led to the civil conflict in 1967, giving detailed analysis on efforts to unite the country.
He also disclosed how the efforts to reach a peaceful agreement with the then eastern military leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu were thwarted.
