APC Must Reconcile With Its Founding Members, You Don’t Throw Away People Who Built the Party– Obun

APC chieftain and former lawmaker, Hon. Cletus Obun, has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to strengthen internal reconciliation efforts, warning that sidelining long-serving members could have negative consequences for the party.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Obun said the ruling party should place greater emphasis on maintaining unity by engaging those who played significant roles in its formation and growth over the years.

He argued that many of the individuals who contributed to building the APC have remained loyal through different political challenges and deserve recognition rather than political exclusion during critical moments.

During the interview, Obun stated, “APC must reconcile with its founding members, you don’t throw away the people who built the party.”

He said preserving relationships with the party’s pioneers is essential to sustaining its political strength.

According to him, political parties become stronger when they are able to accommodate experienced members alongside emerging leaders, instead of creating divisions that could weaken their internal structure.

Obun maintained that disagreements are common in every political organisation, but stressed that such differences should be resolved through dialogue, consultation and reconciliation rather than allowing them to deepen.

He noted that several influential party members have made sacrifices for the APC since its formation and should continue to be treated as important stakeholders in shaping the party’s future direction.

The APC chieftain further stated that retaining experienced political figures within the party would help preserve institutional memory and provide guidance as preparations continue for future electoral contests.
