Asari Dokubo has stated that no one has the right to claim that Islam is not compatible with the Igbo people
In a video Asari Dokubo shared on his Facebook page, he said he is a devoted Muslim and that as long as one drop of Igbo blood flows in his veins, he considers himself an Igbo man.
Dokubo said the family house he heads, the Adiabari house, is among the first ten most prominent families in Kalabari kingdom. He stated that the house was founded by an Igbo person.
In Dokubo’s words: “And when they say this narrative that Islam is not compatible, who are you? I keep on asking this question that who are you to decide what is compatible with us? Who gave you that privilege to speak for all of us? This is what is soo funny that I don’t accept, who are you to speak for our collectivity. As long as one drop of Igbo blood flows in my vein I am Igbo”
