Peter Ameh, the National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties, has called for accountability from the Federal Government before they even think about implementing the new tax reform bill.
During an interview with TrustTV News on Tuesday, he expressed that the current administration has not adequately accounted for the substantial loans it has taken out in the name of improving crucial sectors of the country.
Ameh also mentioned a report from the United States regarding a shipment of Nigeria’s crude oil that was reportedly stolen and later found at sea. He emphasized that the government needs to provide clear answers regarding the ongoing issue of crude oil theft in Nigeria.
He stated, “If you are introducing a tax law, it will impact every Nigerian. While we want the country to progress, you need to clarify what you have done with the billions and trillions you’ve borrowed, which have increased the national debt to over $150 trillion.”
“There must be accountability. Recently, we received a report from America that a shipment of our crude oil was stolen and intercepted at sea. Who is behind the oil theft?”
