With The Experience Of Our President As Our Shield, I Believe That 2027 Is Not A Gamble- Shettima

According to The Cable, Vice-President Kashim Shettima has voiced firm optimism that President Bola Tinubu’s record in office is more than enough to secure him a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

Shettima made the remarks on Friday while speaking to leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s national executive council (NEC) meeting, which took place at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

In his address, the vice-president dismissed the idea that online trends or emotional narratives determine electoral success, insisting instead that elections are decided by solid political organisation and credible leadership.

He noted that Tinubu’s extensive political experience, coupled with what he described as measurable achievements since assuming office, clearly distinguishes him from any potential opponents ahead of the next general election.

According to Shettima, those preparing to challenge the president in 2027 are essentially setting themselves up for failure, given Tinubu’s political background and governance track record.

The vice-president stressed that Tinubu’s grasp of Nigeria’s political realities and his leadership strength give him a commanding edge that rivals would find difficult to counter.

He warned party members and the public against exaggerating the power of social media conversations, arguing that digital popularity does not translate into electoral victory.

As he put it, “Elections are not won by noise or nostalgia.”

Expanding on this, Shettima added, “Elections are not conducted on Facebook or Twitter. They are won by coalitions, credibility and conviction.”

He maintained that these factors have always influenced election outcomes in Nigeria and will continue to do so as the country moves closer to another election season.

Looking ahead to 2027, Shettima portrayed Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid not as a gamble, but as a natural extension of leadership rooted in experience and responsibility.

“With the experience of our president as our shield and the lessons of the past as our guide, I believe that 2027 is not a gamble; it is a responsibility,” he said, reinforcing the administration’s confidence in its record and preparedness for the future.
