According to a report by Euronews on Saturday, December 20, 2025, The Polish Consulate in Brussels was vandalized early Thursday morning, as red paint and offensive political slogans were daubed across the building, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred at around 3 a.m., targeting the consulate’s front door, façade, and the Polish national emblem.
English-language inscriptions, including the word “Killers,” were written on an information board identifying the consulate. Another slogan, “J***ć mur,” appeared on the wall, while dog faeces were scattered near the entrance.
Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Maciej Wewiór described the attack as “of a political nature, targeting the security of Poland and the European Union.” Belgian authorities have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage showing three to four masked individuals carrying out the vandalism, one of whom recorded the act on a mobile device. Patrols around the consulate have been increased.
Employees of the consulate told Polish media RMF FM that the slogan “J***ć mur” (“FK the wall”) may refer to the barrier along the Polish-Belarusian border, while officials did not rule out the possibility that the attack was intended to provoke unrest.
The incident coincided with a European Union summit in Brussels, during which leaders approved approximately €90 billion in financial support for Ukraine over the next two years.
Cleanup began immediately, and a specialist company removed paint from the façade and signage within hours. No injuries were reported, and consulate operations have continued without disruption.
This is not the first attack on Polish diplomatic facilities. In May 2022, red paint was thrown on the Polish Embassy in Moscow, and in August of the same year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Warsaw suffered damage during a demonstration.
Belgian authorities continue to investigate the Brussels vandalism, seeking to identify the perpetrators and determine possible motives.
