Apostle Johnson Suleman has issued a strong caution to his congregation on the dangers of keeping mobile phones within close range while sleeping, stressing that the habit poses both health and mental risks. He urged members to prioritize their well-being by creating distance between themselves and their devices during rest hours.
Suleman reminded the church of previous warnings he had given on the issue. “I’ve told many of you before. I said don’t sleep in the same room with your phone,” he said, noting that the message was rooted in concern for their health. He explained that mobile devices emit harmful waves that people often overlook. “I told you about health, what do you call this thing? It’s because of radiation rather coming from the phone,” he added.
To prevent unnecessary exposure, he advised members to keep their phones far from where they sleep. “Drop it in the bathroom. Drop it somewhere and just rest,” he instructed, emphasizing the need for mental relaxation free from digital intrusion. According to him, true rest cannot occur when the mind remains engaged with constant notifications and screen activity.
Suleman also criticized the growing habit of using phones as sleep aids. “No, some of you press phone to sleep,” he said, pointing out that many believers allow their devices to occupy the time meant for reflection, meditation, and peace. He contrasted the habit with spiritual discipline, remarking, “Time to be on the throne, you’re on the phone.”
The apostle maintained that both mental and physical health depend on intentional detachment from digital distractions. By stepping away from their devices, he said, believers would experience clearer minds, healthier rest patterns, and greater spiritual focus.
