Primate Ayodele Reacts After President Tinubu Nominated Gen. Musa As New Minister Of Defense

The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has reacted to the nomination of former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence. Ayodele described the development as positive and aligned with his earlier counsel to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on security-related appointments.

In a statement shared on his X handle on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Ayodele wrote: “The nomination of General Christopher Musa as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defense is a welcome development.” He explained that his previous advice to the President included the need to avoid appointing politicians to sensitive positions connected to national security. According to him, strategic roles in the security sector should be entrusted to individuals with the requisite expertise.

Ayodele stated: “As part of my several advises to President Tinubu, I had mentioned that there was a need to stop making use of politicians in sensitive positions especially when it comes to security.” The cleric added that he had recommended the return of General Musa to a role that would contribute meaningfully to national security efforts. He wrote: “I specifically told the president to recall General Christopher Musa to serve in a position that would benefit the nation’s security.”

Ayodele further noted that the President’s decision to nominate Musa indicated an openness to spiritual guidance and a commitment to addressing insecurity. In his words: “With his nomination, The president has shown that he indeed listens to spiritual guidance and is willing to tackle insecurity.” He concluded his message with a prayer for the country, stating: “God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
