At least 15 bandits have been neutralised in a fierce gun duel between members of the Asawana militant group and armed Fulani invaders in Port Harcourt.
A viral video uploaded on X.com (formerly Twitter) captured the intense confrontation, showing the moment the invaders stormed what was said to be a militant base but were met with overwhelming resistance.
The attackers, armed and advancing in formation, ran into a much heavier gunfire from the militants who immediately returned fire.
The two-minute clip showed continuous, thunderous gunshots as both sides exchanged rounds in close succession. The militants maintained defensive positions while firing, eventually overpowering the bandits whose ranks thinned rapidly during the prolonged shootout.
According to the militants featured in the video, the attackers were foreign fighters allegedly crossing into the country from neighbouring Niger and Chad.
As gunfire raged, the invaders were heard chanting “Allahu Akbar,” while the militants counter-chanted “Asawana,” signalling their resistance.
By the end of the clash, none of the invading fighters survived, as the militants moved through the area to confirm the neutralisation of all assailants.
The footage continues to circulate widely across social media, drawing strong reactions from viewers.
