Daniel Bwala, the senior special adviser on policy communications has taken to his official X handle to react after he appeared on a Russian Television to discuss the effects of the sanctions that followed the controversial designation slammed on Nigeria by President Donald Trump. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the sanctions spurred them into action.
The controversial designation slammed on Nigeria by President Donald Trump continued to generate heated arguments unabated, with many believing drastic measures were needed to remove the country from the list of countries of particular concern.
In light of this, the senior special adviser on policy communications, Daniel Bwala, having engaged with local media outlets, found it necessary to equally engage with international media. This, led him to Russia were he spoke extensively on president Trump’s designation and the effect of the sanctions.
According to the statements which were published on his official X handle on Saturday November 15th 2025, he pointed out that during his discussion, he highlighted Nigeria’s renewed fight against insurgency. The arrest of a popular bandit, Abdulaziz Obadaki widely known as Ansaru terrorist, a wonderful testament to this renewed fight.
He further pointed out that the arrest of several other bandit leaders, coupled with the procurement of $348 million worth of ammunition indicated that the government was adequately prepared to end insurgency.
In his concluding remarks, he pointed out that the country of particular concern designation has helped sharpened their reforms and strengthened their intelligence coordination.
