Bayo Onanuga Reacts To Viral Broadcast Message Claiming Tinubu Has Agreed To Slash His Salary By 50%
Ahead of the nationwide protests on August 1, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy has debunked a viral broadcast message claiming that President Bola Tinubu has agreed to take some measures in cutting down the cost of governance.
According to Bayo Onanuga, the concocted message in circulation stated that President Bola Tinubu has agreed to slash his salary by 50% and has also agreed to scrap the office of the First Lady to cut down down the cost of governance
This is the message;
“Effective immediately, I am announcing a 50% reduction in my salary and all other emoluments. I call upon the Vice President, Senate President, and all other top government officials to follow suit. We who have been entrusted with leadership must be the first to make sacrifices for the good of our nation. In the spirit of fiscal responsibility, I am also announcing the following measures: The Office of the First Lady will be scrapped to reduce unnecessary expenditures”.
Responding to the broadcast message, Bayo Onanuga said it is not true. He said it is the handiwork of mischief makers who are bent on sowing chaos and confusion in the country.
