In a recent video on Facebook, Popular cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele has raised fresh concerns over what he describes as an impending wave of “internal repatriation” within Nigeria, warning that the move would be dangerous, counterproductive, and potentially destabilizing if implemented by any state government.
Ayodele, speaking during a prophetic session, said he foresees a situation where Nigerians may be forcefully relocated across state lines in the name of repatriation. According to him, such actions would not only escalate ethnic tensions but also contradict the principles of national unity and constitutional freedom of movement.
“I see that repatriation will be happening within Nigeria,” he warned. “It will be very serious as from next year, but it’s going to be a wrong concept.”
He cautioned that no governor or political leader has the legal or moral right to initiate such a policy, insisting that the Federal Government must intervene immediately if any state attempts to enforce it.
“Any governor doing that, whoever is doing that, I think the Federal Government should see to that,” Ayodele stated. “And maybe such governor should also be sacked because it’s a wrong idea.”
The cleric stressed that internal repatriation has “no meaning” and would create unnecessary tension in a country already dealing with security challenges, economic pressure, and ethnic mistrust. “It has no meaning, has no meaning,” he emphasized.
Ayodele urged leaders at all levels to prioritize unity, justice, and equitable governance rather than policies that could divide communities or undermine the constitutional rights of citizens.
