According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Mrs. Lekyil, widow of Pastor Mimang Lekyil, has described the attack that claimed the life of her husband and seven others in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at night in their residence in Kwakas-Mushere community, where armed men broke into the pastorium and demanded specifically for her husband.
The situation led to the killing of the pastor and left her with gunshot injuries in her legs.
Pastor Mimang Lekyil was serving as the leader of the Local Church Council of the Church of Christ in Nations in the community at the time of the attack.
The pastor and his wife had settled for the night when the attackers forced their way into the house.
According to the widow, the individuals carried weapons and entered with a clear intention of identifying and taking her husband.
The attackers, described as young and armed, moved through the house and asked for the pastor by name.
On seeing them, Mrs. Lekyil attempted to seek safety with her husband and another family member inside a room.
The intruders continued to advance and did not fire randomly but acted with a specific target in mind.
Mrs. Lekyil recounted that her husband was in the bathroom shortly before the attackers found him.
Once they confirmed his presence, they carried out the attack, resulting in his death inside the home.
The widow was also shot during the incident, causing serious injuries to her legs. She survived but is currently recovering from the wounds.
The attack was not limited to the pastor’s household alone, several other individuals within the same community were killed in the incident.
This has led to grief and fear among residents, who have faced repeated violence in the area over time.
The community has continued to mourn the loss of the pastor and the others who were killed.
The widow’s account highlights that the incident appeared planned and directed, rather than a random act of violence.
Her injuries and the death of her husband have left her and the community in a state of deep pain as they try to cope with the aftermath.
She said: “At night, after praying and just about to sleep, my husband went into the bathroom.
“As he was about to come out, suddenly some Fulani boys burst into the house. They were very young children, all armed. There were about five or six of them.
“I whispered to my husband to come inside the room. He asked me what had happened, and I told him that Fulani boys had entered the house. He followed me inside while I held my sister’s hand, and we went into the room.
