Oladimeji Fabiyi, Deputy National Financial Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, rejected on Symfoni suggestions that Atiku Abubakar lacks the funds to run a national campaign, insisting the former vice president has consistently financed his own elections.
He argued that anyone doubting Atiku’s capacity to fund a campaign should produce evidence, noting that Atiku has adequately funded every venture he has set out to pursue. Fabiyi said that since leaving government in 2007, Atiku has contested three major elections and financed the bulk of them himself.
He added that Atiku is far too experienced to enter Nigerian politics, which he described as requiring huge funding, without the necessary resources, dismissing claims to the contrary as unserious.
