Trump made the comment while discussing the Iran conflict during a press event that began with the signing of proclamations shrinking two Utah national monuments.

He tied the injuries directly to Qassem Soleimani, the Iranian military commander killed during Trump’s first term, saying Soleimani was responsible for years of harm to American forces stationed in the region.

Trump said this history is part of why his administration has taken a harder line against Iran now, arguing that decades of restraint by past administrations allowed the damage to continue.

He also referenced Iran’s treatment of its own citizens, saying tens of thousands of protesters have been killed by the regime in recent months.

In his words, Trump said, “And not only killed, when you see a young former soldier walking around with no legs, no arms, a face that’s been horribly, horribly hurt. Uh that was done by Iran. That was done by Salamani.”

Trump said the current military campaign is intended to prevent further harm of this kind by dismantling Iran’s remaining offensive capability before it can be used again…See_More
