According to a report by The Times of Israel on June 3, 2026, following reports that Iranian attacks on Kuwait caused damage to the airport infrastructure and injured dozens of people, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi justified Tehran’s recent military actions.
According to Araghchi’s X post, the Iranian military is launching what he called “self-defence strikes” against sites associated with US military operations in the area.
According to Iran, the targets included areas where the US is authorised to conduct certain activities, such as attacks on civilian ships and breaches of a current ceasefire agreement.
Tensions have been rising since Iran, the US, and many Gulf nations engaged in a series of military confrontations, prompting the remarks.
Tehran sees these efforts as unfriendly and counterproductive to its objectives, according to Araghchi, who argued that Iran was acting defensively.
The comments warned against any additional military action by Iran’s enemies and demonstrated the Islamic republic’s will to respond to perceived threats.
In his statement, the foreign minister emphasized that Tehran would not remain passive in the face of attacks or pressure. “Any hostile act will be met with an immediate, decisive response,” he adds.
