Chidi Odinkalu Reacts As Justice James Omotosho Affirms INEC’s Timetable, Says Judgement Was Swift

Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission has taken to his official X handle to react after Justice James Omotosho affirmed INEC’s deadline for the submission of candidates contesting the 2027 general elections.

According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Tuesday May 26th, 2026 he commended the Chief Judge for delivering a swift judgement.

It can be recalled that the Social Democratic Party, SDP had filed a petition challenging the timetable set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

However, in the ruling which triggered massive public attention, Justice James Omotosho affirmed August 26th and September 2026 as the deadline for political parties to submit names of potential candidates.
