‎Kwankwaso Is The Vehicle To Sell Obi To North But We’ve Record Of What Obi Did To Northerners—Yusuf

‎According to a report by The Sun, on Thursday May 7, 2026, former NHIS executive secretary, Usman Yusuf, has stated that political conditions in northern Nigeria may not favour the presidential ambition of Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 elections.

‎He explained that many voters in the North still have doubts about Obi based on his past political decisions and leadership record, according to him, these concerns continue to shape how the region views the former presidential candidate.

‎Yusuf stated that the current political environment in the North remains a difficult space for Obi to gain wide acceptance and noted that political trust and perception are very important in the region, and these factors may not be in Obi’s favour at the moment.

‎He commented on the possibility of an alliance between Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, he described Kwankwaso as a key political figure who could help Obi reach northern voters if they worked together.

‎However, Yusuf argued that even such an arrangement may not change the overall political reality, he said the North still carries strong reservations that could limit the impact of any partnership.

‎He stated that Kwankwaso may serve as a vehicle to introduce Obi to northern voters, but he insisted that existing perceptions would still stand in the way and suggested that people in the region already hold opinions based on what they believe Obi’s record represents.

‎“Kwankwaso is the vehicle to sell Peter Obi to the North, but we have the record of what Peter Obi did to Northerners,” Yusuf said….See More
