Awosogbon called me in distress, saying a substance had been poured on her and that it was- Ifeoluwa

According to a report by The Punch on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, a female spa worker identified as Olorunseunfunmi Awosogbon is currently undergoing medical treatment after she was reportedly attacked with a corrosive substance in the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos State, in an incident believed to be connected to a dispute involving her employer.

Findings from interviews and court documents revealed that Awosogbon, also known as Ajoke, had been assigned to attend to a client who requested a home massage service on October 25, 2025. The appointment took her to Lakowe Golf Gate, near Utmost Care Hospital, where the attack allegedly occurred shortly after she arrived at the location in a ride-hailing vehicle.

A man identified in court filings as Ziaulihak Zakari was said to have approached her and poured the substance on her. Further details indicated that the suspect was allegedly hired by another individual, Owolabi Daniel, following the breakdown of a personal relationship between Daniel and the spa owner, Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa.

Recounting the sequence of events, Ifeoluwa explained that she met Daniel earlier in 2025 when he became a client at her spa and later expressed interest in a relationship. However, she said the relationship did not last long due to ongoing disagreements, and she eventually made it clear that she no longer wished to continue.

She stated that after ending the relationship, she began receiving threatening messages from unknown sources, some of which allegedly contained serious threats to her life. According to her, there were also suspicious booking requests for home services shortly before the attack, raising concerns about a possible setup.

Describing the moment she learned about the incident, she said, “Awosogbon called me in distress, saying a substance had been poured on her and that it was suspected to be acid.”

The victim was first taken to a medical facility in Lekki before being transferred to another hospital in Ikeja for more advanced treatment, as her condition required specialised care.

Following the incident, Ifeoluwa alleged that the threats persisted, with messages suggesting that the attack was not the end and that she remained a target. She said a private investigation later linked the threatening communications to a known individual, prompting a formal report to the police and subsequent arrests.

Court documents filed at a Magistrate Court in Ebute-Metta show that both Zakari and Daniel are facing multiple charges, including conspiracy, alleged threats to life, and causing bodily harm under the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

While Awosogbon continues to receive treatment and was unavailable for comment, concerns have been raised about safety, particularly after it was revealed that one of the suspects had been granted bail.

The victim’s legal representative, John Olobayo, criticised the handling of the case, arguing that the charges filed do not adequately reflect the seriousness of the allegations. He disclosed that further petitions had been submitted to the Ministry of Justice for review….See More
