The National Youth Leader of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Owoyombo Gbenga Solomon has taken a swipe at the conduct of a recent congress organized by a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as lacking credibility and proper participation.
Solomon made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television, where he criticized the process overseen by the factional chairman of the ADC, Nafiu Bala. According to him, the event failed to meet the basic standards expected of a legitimate political gathering.
Reacting to the development, Solomon said, “Look at Nafiu Bala, you are organizing a Congress and you are the only person at the podium. Nobody there to follow you.” He argued that such a situation raises serious concerns about the authenticity of the exercise and the level of support within the faction.
The YPP youth leader emphasized that party congresses are meant to be inclusive, bringing together delegates, stakeholders, and members to collectively decide on party affairs. He noted that any process that appears one-sided or poorly attended undermines democratic principles and weakens the integrity of the party structure.
Solomon further stated that political parties in Nigeria must prioritize transparency, internal democracy, and active participation to build trust among members and the electorate.
