Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Segun Showunmi has alleged that former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his allies were directly responsible for bringing Peter Obi into the national political spotlight.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Showunmi said, “Of all the things you (Obi) could choose to do, it is the very man who even gave you the opportunity to come into the national limelight that you are fighting against. All of the so-called Obidients can now see you, why weren’t you obidient when you were in Anambra? In 2019, I was part of the process that offered you the vice presidency alongside Atiku. We didn’t market Atiku to you, we marketed you with Atiku and brought you out to where you are.”
Showunmi argued that Obi’s increasing aggression within the coalition reveals a lack of political maturity rather than strength, and urged him to adopt a more measured tone.
He stated that the coalition Obi has joined was built through months of painstaking meetings and sacrifices by people who were working long before Obi arrived, and suggested that coming in late and attempting to dominate the process shows a disregard for the groundwork others have laid….See More
